Metal oxides are generally

. However, some metal oxides, such as
gold oxide and silver oxide

lead oxide and tin oxide
etc., can act as
acidic and basic
acidic
alkaline
soluble
. Such metal oxides are called
amphoteric oxides
.

never react and remain unchanged
react with acids and bases and produce salt and water
burn in air and form metals
