A company manufactures different products using various materials. Before selecting a material, the quality control team conducts a simple test to check whether the material can be drawn into long, thin wires.
Four samples are tested.
  • Sample P is drawn into a long wire without breaking.
  • Sample Q breaks into small pieces when an attempt is made to draw it into a wire.
  • Sample R can also be drawn into a thin wire and is later used for making overhead electric cables.
  • Sample S can be flattened into a sheet but cannot be drawn into a long wire.
After analysing the results, the engineers choose only the materials suitable for wire manufacturing.
