Answer the following question:

i. Explain why a gas takes the shape and fills the entire volume of the container it is stored in.
ii. Explain the reason gases exert pressure on the walls of their containers.
iii. Why a wooden table is classified as a solid?
iv. Why is it easy to move your hand through air, but difficult to do so through a solid wooden block without force?

i. The particles have a negligible force of attraction between them; hence, they are very loosely bound. Hence, a gas fills the vessel in which it is kept.

ii. The gas particles have high and a negligible attraction force to move constantly with high speed in all directions. Due to this intense random motion of particles, the particles hit each other and hit the container walls with force. These collisions of the gas particles with the container walls exert pressure on the walls of the container.

iii. Reason: The wooden table has a and volume. It is very rigid and cannot be compressed, i.e., it has a solid characteristic.

iv. in gases are loosely packed compared to solid molecules, which are densely packed. So we can easily break the force of attraction when we move our hand through the air, but it is difficult to break through a solid due to the greater forces of attraction between molecules. So we need a karate expert to break the solid block of wood.
