1. Explain why the cooling effect of a desert cooler is greater on a hot, dry day compared to a humid one.
 
The is high and less humid on a hot, dry day which enables better evaporation. High levels of this  provide better cooling effects.
 
2. How does the water kept in an earthen pot (matka) become cool during summer?
 
Evaporates take latent , and removal of latent heat results in cooling. Earthen pots have tiny pores through which the water seeps, and leads to cooling the substance.
