5. Uniform circular motion

 

 

Uniform circular motion is called an random motionuniform motionretarded motionaccelerated motion because although the speed depends only on massspeed increases continuouslyspeed decreases continuouslyspeed remains constant, the direction changes randomlydirection remains constantvelocity becomes zerodirection of velocity changes continuously at every point on the circular path. Since force acting on an objectacceleration is the rate of change of velocityrate of change of speedrate of change of distance, the object is continuously accelerating even though its speed does not change. This acceleration is calledgravitational accelerationcentrifugal accelerationuniform accelerationcentripetal acceleration , and it is always directed away from the centrealong the circumferencetowards the centre of the circular pathalong the tangent.
